The Dignity Challenge
High quality care services that respect people's dignity should:
| Prescribed Care Breaks | These allow informal carers, of any age, who cares for an adult, to take a short break in emergencies, take a break if caring becomes stressful and/or take part in social activities. The service is free. Maximum of 8 hours per week for a 4-week period.Carers can have three prescribed breaks per year. Sessions are prescribed by the hour and can be taken between 7.30am - 11pm. Two hours is the minimum break. Contact your GP or Community/District Nurse (including CPN) to access the service. | |

State Assistance and Long Term Care
(NHFA) |
Ring their Care Advice Line 0800 99 88 33 and talk to one of their advisers to discuss your particular circumstances or request further information. NHFA advice and information is available to all regardless of means and encompasses the many financial and funding issues older people, their families or carers should consider when obtaining and paying for care. There is no obligation or financial commitment in seeking advice from NHFA Ltd. | |

| Jewish Care | offers a wide range of services for people with dementia and Alzheimer's, from care in their own home to special day care centres to full-time residential care. | |
| We have developed a range of services to help families affected by dementia. We can offer carers a break on an occasional or regular basis, our special day care centres offer a safe, welcoming place for people with dementia to spend time and we can also offer full-time residential nursing care. Our Dementia Care Development Project trains staff and volunteers in the latest practices. We also offer Occupational Therapy and Home Care Services for people with dementia. | ||

Home from Home report
In November 2007, the Alzheimer's Society released a report revealing the state of dementia care in care homes. Home from Home is based on a survey of over 3,500 experiences of dementia care in care homes and presents new statistics and findings into the quality of dementia care in care homes.
